Nicki is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She has been actively providing therapy and advocacy in the mental/behavioral health field since 2001. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the Northern Illinois University in 1998 and her Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Shippensburg University in 2007. Nicki has a history of working in a variety of settings including home, school and communities with WRAP Around services for children and families, Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions, Adult Residential for individuals transitioning out of state hospitals, as well as inpatient Crisis Stabilization.
She specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults utilizing evidenced-based practices including Play Therapy/Sand Tray/Expressive Arts, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She also utilizes strategies from Eastern Psychology (such as meditation) to increase focus & concentration and to decrease anxiety in order to make healthy decisions in the present moment. Additionally, her practice stems from a strengths-based, recovery model of therapy.
She is passionate and dedicated to assisting people to effectively manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, bipolar, grief and loss while conveying hope, respect, compassion and the belief that all individuals have the capacity for learning and growth. She has supported consumers to grow in their self-esteem, emotion management, healthy relationships, and improved communication.
